Why I Read

by Jean Tower

In the video below, kids were asked why they read, and they tell us. They have some great things to say about reading and how it helps them learn, evokes emotion, transports them, and more.

Reading does “open a world of possible” and hearing others proclaim why they read may inspire your students to do likewise. Perhaps you too could capture students on video and share with the world. Students like to hear from the adults in their world, too, so why not issue a school-wide and community invitation to share why you read?

Me? I read to learn, to visit other worlds, to relax, to do research, to let words dance in my head, to help me think……I love to read.
