Tech Plan Word Cloud

by Jean Tower

Several teachers in my school district use Wordle with their students. Students really enjoy seeing the word clouds that they create from their poems, projects, essays, and brainstorming.

I checked out Tagxedo to see if I would recommend it. For my test cloud, I copied the new National Education Technology Plan 2010 and pasted it into Tagxedo.

I really enjoyed using this tool. There are plenty of color themes and fonts, and there is granular control beyond the theme level. There are lots of shapes to choose from for your cloud – animals, famous people, words, and shapes. In addition, one feature I really like is that when you mouse-over a word it pops it out and displays that word in a larger font size and horizontal format.

If you are getting at all bored with Wordle, try out Tagxedo!
